School is about to begin (in Frederick County, MD) and I just finished my final "Summer Read" - Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. First I must justify publishing this entry. The easiest answer is that Ray Bradbury makes a few appearances in the documentary C.S. Lewis: Dreamer of Narnia. My quick research also shows Lewis 3x commenting on Bradbury as a writer. Lewis mentions Bradbury 2x within 2 letters in a 2 day period in 1953. To quote,"But Bradbury has real invention and even knows something about prose. I recommend his Silver Locusts." (Letters, Vol III, p. 288)
So, this entry has official Lewisian justification. Now, personal justification - this book was simply a fun and memorable read. From laugh out loud fun to tears for eternal truths shared by all of humankind. See the article link below as well (read the book first). Of course my timing was perfect, but if you are a fast reader you still have time. I was at Wonderbook today and they have a few used paperbacks available.
